About Secure Hosting

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) provides a method of encrypting data sent between a web browser and server to a high standard of security such that financial information is considered safe to be transmitted over the Internet.

In order to allow secure communications on your web site, you need to purchase an SSL certificate from a trusted agency. DataSnake is an official Comodo partner, supplying their InstantSSL certificates.

InstantSSL certificates have over 99% browser compatibility - they work with Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, Netscape 4.0 or higher, AOL and Opera browsers.

SSL certification is subject to verification of your identity and ownership of the domain name you wish to secure, but in most cases a certificate can be issued within a few hours. A new certificate costs just £49 for one year, with discounts for 2 or 3 year certificates.

Of course, if you already have an SSL certificate for your web site, you are welcome to bring it over to DataSnake, and we can assist in the transition.

For Dedicated Servers and Colocation

Dedicated server and colocation customers should be aware that one IP address is required per secure site hosted on your web server. Additional IPs can be allocated to you for a £25 one-off fee, but will only be allocated in accordance with RIPE guidelines.
